Welcome to Islamabad, a charming city of South Asia. Islamabad is located in the Pothohar Plateau in the northeastern part of the country. The city’s master plan was designed by Greek architect Constantinos Apostolou Doxiadis. Divided into 8 zones, the city has commercial, rural and green areas evenly spread across the city. After arriving at Islamabad, you shift to a hotel and spend the day resting or exploring this beautiful city.
If the weather permits you can fly to Skardu. But if the weather does not allow and you trust our recommendation, drive to Chilas. It is a beautiful small town in the lap of nature. Your journey will take you through the spectacular Karakoram Highway and the Indus gorges. The trip by the banks of river Indus is rewarding in itself. We will make stops at the historical town of Taxila and the beautiful hill station of Abbottabad. We will cross the towns of Mansehra and Shinkiari and finally meet Indus on Thakot Bridge. You can’t miss the 5th century inscriptions carved on the rocks by the ancient Chinese pilgrims. We will enjoy our meal in the local cuisine and spend the night in a hotel.
We will travel by jeep from Chilas to Skardu. We reach the city of Skardu by afternoon and get ready to explore this hidden beauty. We will visit the historical fort of Skardu which is situated in the north of the city. This military stronghold is guarded by the Indus River on eastern and northern sides thus making it significant from the military point of view. The colorful Bazaars of Skardu are waiting to be explored and we will have enough time to do so. There is a blue lake known as the Sadpara Lake it is about four miles from the city. We will spend some time by Sadpara Lake and come back. If we have flown to Skardu then we will still have time on our hand. So we will drive towards Alam Bridge to cross Indus. The drive through Indus gorges is mesmerizing. We have to cross the Raikot Bridge to reach a place 1000 meters high and have our first view of the Nanga Parbat popularly known as the ‘Killer Mountain’. We then return to Skardu and spend the night in a hotel.
We will travel to the Sadpara village on foot and camp overnight. It is a beautiful small village with houses constructed on slant hills.
Trek to Rdona is a little bit challenging but you will make it through. We travel through the mountains and the loose rocks populating the roads and reach Rdona before evening. We spend the night in tents.
We start early in the morning and to reach the Ali Malik Burge Lachan at the base of Burge La. We camp by the lake at the base and spend the night in tents.
Today we will conquer the summit of Burge La. We trek for about 7 hours to reach the top. It is an epic view from the top, it is worth the work. You will feel a new sense of accomplishment after completing the trek. It is beautiful and refreshing. We will spend some time over the top of the mountain and then return to the base camp before nightfall. We will have meals and spend the night in tents.
Before reaching Shela we must take a break at Shatong Khlas and replenish our energies. Here we will camp overnight.
We leave Shatong Khlas and trek to the beautiful Shela village. We take our meals with the locals at Shela and camp overnight.
We leave Shela by jeep and reach Skardu before nightfall. We shift to a hotel in Skardu for the night.
We will fly back from Skardu to Islamabad and shift to a hotel to spend the night.
